Advanced Privacy Terms: Anonymization, Pseudonymization, & Tokenization
Anonymization, Pseudonymization, and Tokenization are vital methods of protecting personal identifiable information (PII).
A key benefit of these methods is that they allow you to operationalize your data for business use and while protecting the PII to ensure you don’t get fined by regulators. A best of both worlds approach.
Anonymization takes PII and makes it so it can't be used to identify anyone, while Pseudonymization replaces information with a pseudonym as if it were a CIA spy. Tokenization is like pseudonymization on steroids, encrypting your PII and replacing your pseudonym with an unrecognizable token.
